DJI Enters the 360° Game with the Osmo 360 – And It’s a Spec Monster
DJI, long dominant in the drone and imaging space, just stepped into immersive content creation with the launch of its first-ever 360° camera: the Osmo 360. It’s not just an entry — it’s a statement.
At the heart of the Osmo 360 is a new 1-inch sensor, capable of shooting crisp 8K video at 50fps — an industry-first, according to DJI. But it's not just about resolution. The brand introduces a square sensor design, which increases usable imaging area by 25% over traditional rectangular sensors. More image, less waste. It’s also more power-efficient, pushing battery life further than its rivals.
Compared to the reigning champ, Insta360’s X5, the Osmo 360 goes bigger, brighter, and bolder. It can shoot 8K continuously for up to 100 minutes (at 30fps) and delivers stills with 2.4μm pixels — double the industry standard — for better low-light performance and sharper detail. Its dynamic range? A massive 13.5 stops.
Other specs? They don’t disappoint. You’re looking at 100fps in 4K, smart gesture and voice control, AI tracking, and seamless switching between lenses while recording. And in single-lens mode, it transforms into a 5K action cam with a 155° field of view — or 170° at 4K/120fps using “Boost Video” mode.
At just 183g and with 105GB of internal storage, it’s travel-ready and creator-approved. Add the Battery Extension Rod, and you’re pushing up to 180 minutes of runtime.
The Osmo 360 starts at $549 and is available now through DJI.
